A software fellow position is immediately available in the Biosystems Design theme at the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The incumbent will join a growing team charged with operating, maintaining and developing the Illinois Biological Foundry for Advanced Manufacturing (iBioFAB) (http://youtu.be/Hwb735qZ-IQ). The iBioFAB is a robotic laboratory automation facility designed to support high-throughput synthetic biology. The incumbent will be responsible for providing programming support for the iBioFAB, including the development of web applications for iBioFAB operators and customers, organizing and maintaining large databases produced by iBioFAB research and services, and development or customization of laboratory information management software (LIMS). Experience in full-stack development of web applications is highly valued, as these projects will require user-friendly front-end interfaces with efficient back-end infrastructure. A BS, MS, or Ph.D. degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
